I'll Be There by Holly Goldberg Sloan

4.0

I read a few chapters of this book every night. All I wanted was something really simple and predictable to savor before sleep, and I thought this book was perfect for that kind of entertainment. I guess it'd be some happy story where a poor, abused boy (Sam Border) meets an innocent, angel-eyed girl (Emily Bell), because you know, it's their FATE, and it's TRUE LOVE. Yayy!
BUT (plot twist! haha)
I'll Be There wasn't so simple as I expected it to be.
When Emily and Sam first met at the church, I knew they'd fall in love. As Sam and his brother, Riddle, got closer to Emily's family, I knew their abusive, alcoholic father would get in the way. But I have to admit, the characters went beyond my expectations...like this: o_O
The only downside of this book is that how impossible things happens multiple times. Like the chances of survival from falling off a cliff, I'm assume, is VERY LOW...(but it's okay, 'cuz I didn't want them to die)
Some things I learned through this book:
Love is harder than it seems at first.
Some people in your life are obstacles, not destinations.
Connections become stronger when they're torn apart.
(you might be lucky enough to survive after almost dying 3 times)
