Reading this book actually transported me through time, wow! I remember reading this for the first time in high school and feeling so connected to a character, something I had trouble doing a lot of the time. I'm going to be completely honest and tell you that I went into this reread with extremely low expectations. I had reread Eleanor and Park last year and did not enjoy it, however, I was pleasantly surprised with this reread.

I picked up on some stuff I hadn't before like how Cath claimed she was the ultimate fangirl, but if I remember correctly, being a Fangirl in 2011-2014 was 10000x more extreme. For the sake of the book, it makes sense that Cath isn't only talking about Baz and Simon as that would definitely get old for the readers really quickly, but I feel like for a book named Fangirl, we were missing some elements like the endless scrolling on Tumblr and interacting with other fans on the internet. I also hated how Levi referenced Harry Potter at one point... I'm not really sure how Harry Potter exists in this timeline considering the Simon Snow series is supposed to replicate Harry Potter, so how both books exist in the Fangirl timeline, and how Simon Snow is wildly more popular is confusing to me, but again that's just me being picky.

All in all, I did enjoy Fangirl, but it definitely felt outdated and didn't seem to keep up with the times.
