The premise was Excellent, and I loved the characters—particularly Horst. However, I struggled to get into it for two reasons. Firstly, the pacing is super off, the plot really jumps around and I would lose track of the actual conflict. For a relatively high-stakes plot, there is very little tension, and I had trouble connecting to what was happening. The second, which was more frustrating, is that the novel was Very poorly copy-edited. The author was trying to maintain a humorous voice, but this was undermined by clunky or redundant phrasing that could have SO easily been rewritten. I will probably read the second book, but I will probably get it from the library as opposed to purchasing because I am not sure if the quality will hold up.
