This sequel and conclusion was more about the emotional depth Brisesis faces , physical and mental. Versus the actual danger and exploration of the gift and her lost aunt , friends and partner Marie have. The cost gives her way time a majority of the plotline. And by the time it got to where the major conflict takes it just didn't excite as much.
Love the detail of the gifts and the family dynamics plus bonds in this series though. But it didn't have to be so much of them waiting around to resolve things. So therefore it was not complete trash. But not higher on the best fantasy, in particular YA out there.

Graphic: Death, Emotional abuse, Torture, and Violence
