adventurous dark mysterious medium-paced

I have to admit that I was a little disappointed with this one, which didn’t quite live up to the promise of the first in the series.

I didn’t dislike the journey that takes a large chunk in the middle of the book, but it felt quite episodic and didn’t really drive the plot forward.
SpoilerI wished Mia and Ash’s relationship could have been expressed by more than sex, because really I didn’t care, and I found the whole undead love triangle pretty frustrating.

The ending was exciting- plenty of battles and the magic used to its fullest, but in the end I found Scaeva a disappointing villain, and would have liked a bit more. I didn’t think the resolution lived up to the promise of the earlier books,
Spoilerand I found the HEA pretty jarring and unsatisfying.
