I have to admit that I was a little disappointed with this one, which didn’t quite live up to the promise of the first in the series.
I didn’t dislike the journey that takes a large chunk in the middle of the book, but it felt quite episodic and didn’t really drive the plot forward.
The ending was exciting- plenty of battles and the magic used to its fullest, but in the end I found Scaeva a disappointing villain, and would have liked a bit more. I didn’t think the resolution lived up to the promise of the earlier books,

I wished Mia and Ash’s relationship could have been expressed by more than sex, because really I didn’t care, and I found the whole undead love triangle pretty frustrating. The ending was exciting- plenty of battles and the magic used to its fullest, but in the end I found Scaeva a disappointing villain, and would have liked a bit more.
