The Flash: Rebirth by Geoff Johns

5.0

What better way to start of my reading year than with a comic that deals with the return of my most beloved superhero?
I got The Flash: Rebirth from my boyfriend for Christmas and it was the perfect gift. Up until now, I was only reading the comics he bought for himself, but now I have my very own. And I am so proud of it.
Bary Allen is a very special character for me, even though the tv show on the CW is mostly responsible for this. I have a soft spot for the scarlet speedster in my heart and whatever he does, it just warms my heart. And the Bary Allen in this comic is definitely the way I hoped he would be in the comic book world. His character is so well written, which is not a surprise considering who wrote The Flash: Rebirth. I loved the story Geoff Johns constructed for Barry after his return. I was really engaged in the story and I loved the little twists and turns. I also loved how we got to see various other characters. Hal Jordan was definitely my favorite (I loved the connection the two shared and how Hal was there for Barry and was not giving up on him). The 'side - characters' were a perfect addition to the story. Wally West especially impressed me here.
And the villain Geoff chose for Barry's return I highly enjoyed as well. The art was also very beautiful, I loved the colors so much. It was just so pleasing to look at and was completely in tune with the story itself.
I always really liked reading comics, but with this one it was different. This is where my heart is at. Bary Allen as The Flash is my favorite superhero and I was at the edge of my seat the whole time, I enjoyed every second of this comic so much. So a thumbs up for the characters, the plot and the art. This was one of the best, if not the best comic I have read so far.
