Characters: Dante and Brianna

(Content Warning: virgin heroine, battery, assault, kidnapping, drugged)

Dante is at the wedding of his goddaughter Carolina (Dante’s younger brother is Carolina’s step dad). Dante is in a room and notices this beautifully designed cake and decides to eat some of the cupcakes apart of the wedding desserts (he has a huge sweet tooth). A woman comes in and scolds him, and she ends up being the baker of the cakes. That night at the wedding he sees her again and kisses her. He nicknames her “little bee”, because her work costume had yellow and black stripes.

Brianna is 26 and grew up in the foster care system. She’s working at a bakery to try and pay off her school debt, and also trying to get her business off the ground. She meets Dante and he makes her feel things she wasn’t expecting. He finds out where she works and he goes to see her. She teases him and calls him old man, he’s 38.

He tells her he wants to keep seeing her, she tries to avoid him by heading off to a cabin for a few days. Instead he thwarts her plans, drugs her with a sleeping pill and whisks her off to Italy. She’s mad at first, but the more time she spends with him, the more she enjoys being around him.

I loved this book, I loved how the heroine refused to swear, so she would come up with these interesting terms. I also loved how she would say things back to him that would crack me up, like calling him old man. He loved her baked goods and her sassy mouth. He falls fast and hard for her.
