The Perfectionists by Sara Shepard

3.0

The narration of the audiobook was great. She had a very child-like voice, which perfectly matched the characters.

I would have given this novel a higher score if there had been an actual resolution to the main conflict in the story. However, it's left open-ended, ostensibly to be resolved in the sequel. I think the author should have just combined the two as a murder mystery over two novels is kind of tiresome.

Other than that, the book captures the tumult of being a teenager very well. Several times I felt very uncomfortable because the characters' feelings reminded me of stuff in my own childhood.

I liked the variety of characters and personalities.

That being said, I probably won't read the sequel any time soon, mostly due to the split in the storyline.
