I mean it’s war horse. It’s a classic. If you don’t love it, do you have a soul?
I’ve seen the film, i’ve seen the play at the national theatre, i’ve read the book and i cried and loved them all. A wholesome WW story, i’m not one for a war story but really it’s all about the pure bonds between man and animal and how our bonds are what get us through tough times.
It does deal with tough themes, but really it’s a great intro to war and conflict without being too vivid but not sugar-coating too much. Allow your kids to talk through this book because I had some very formative talks with my parents over this book and really helped understand these themes throughly.
