She's a Hot Christmas Mess by Sofia Aves

3.0

I was excited to read a book from a groomsman point of view from the Betting On Christmas series, but unfortunate I wanted a lot more from this book.

We meet Ford, an clueless Aussie but perhaps secretly a billionaire who decided to bring his alpaca with him to the cold snowy streets of New York City, and Nisha, a tour guide dressed as an elf who very much comes across as a manic pixie dream girl. (Speaking of, why is Nisha supposedly a hug Christmas mess?)

It did not get better, dear reader (bah humbug).

I did not get the premise, I did not feel the romance, within half a day they were head over heels from each other (I guess I do not do insta love), the secondary characters were a bit flat and random for me, and while I was excited for Christmas in NYC, the vibes were not there for me.
Putting this all (ha) aside, it was a quick nice romance that I enjoyed as a part of the series.

Also, with all the money in the world, you cannot buy having respect for other people: I was really put off when I read that when a barman refused Ford something, Ford threw money at the barman. Boo.

I received an ARC of this book (thanks!) and these are my own opinions.
