It Happened One Autumn by Lisa Kleypas

1.0

Dropped at the end of chapter 14, but annoyed enough to rant.

Honnestly I'm very surprised by the rating on this book. Maybe it gets better, but I'm more than 50% in and judging by some spoilers I read, it doesn't.

Spoilers below.

I was promised an uptight english aristocrat in the person of Marcus, and an fiery and clever young woman in Lillian, and all I got was a sexual pedator and a whining and spoilt child. :(

I don't mind annoying characters that redeem themselves through a book, but honestly after the third time Marcus forced himself on Lillian, I had enough to make up my mind.

I was reading this because I started with Devil in winter and absolutely LOVED this book. I wondered a lot about skipping this one as St Vincent appears and has a big role in it, but I'm glad I did, it would have put me off Lisa Kleypas books.

I never understood why St Vincent was and pretended to be such an asshole in this book (based on spoilers and Devil in Winter) but now I know: the author needed a bigger asshole than the one she created with Marcus. Honestly that's it.

So yeah.

Still love Lisa Kleypas and the Wallflowers tho.
