Going Solo by Zoe Sugg

5.0

I was hesitant to read this book because I was afraid it would be FULL of drama to make me cringe, but I actually really enjoyed it! It's definitely a book aimed at teenagers, but it's an excellent one!

Of course, to have a plot there has to be some kind of drama, but I found it didn't make me cringe nearly as much as the second book (:On Tour) and I kept finding myself smiling. Sugg also deals with some difficult issues again in this book and does so really well, which I think is great because of the types of people who will be reading it. It provides a great example of how to overcome and resolve conflict.

But just in general? I loved the characters and it was honestly really fun to jump back in to their world.

I am so glad that she ended up with Noah!!! I can't even begin to tell you how worried I was when Callum came into the picture. Every single time Penny was with him, another red flag went up and I was so convinced he was going to turn out to be a really nasty villain character with a hidden agenda!! So... I was very surprised when he wasn't? lol

Also I feel the need to mention again how much I love Leah Brown. If she was real I would definitely be buying all her music. Ahem.

Honestly, the theme of 'growing up' in this book is so good. I loved seeing Penny gradually become more confident, and then to see that Noah had gotten a place in Brighton and was living there for a while? These character are so much more mature now and I feel so happy about them <3

I have to say I was so scared when Elliot vanished towards the end of the book!!! Excuse me boy, come back here! I also thought maybe there was going to be a fourth book all about him, if he really had left the country, which would be Penny and Alex and Noah banding together to go find him - which would have been interesting and maybe fun? - but I have to say, I'm relieved that he was just hiding in his room after all.

Parts of these books seem so cheesy? And the way Penny always GUSHES over guys makes me cringe... but maybe that's just because I haven't met a guy worthy of gushing over in a while... regardless, I remember being like that when I was in high school so I can't even complain about it being unrealistic! Because it definitely is realistic. But it means these books are on my 'guilty pleasure' list LOL. Because I feel guilty about liking such cheese... but I DOOOOOOOO.

I'm done now. Thanks for reading :)

p.s. I changed my rating from 4 stars to 5 stars because the more I think about it, the more I'm smiling!!
