The Vexed Generation by Scott Meyer

3.0

Magic 2.0 books are light and fun (and are intended to be this way) with no super deep consequences for their characters, and this one is no different. Focussing on newer characters gives it a bit of a fresh edge, but the narration style seems to have become plainer (if it's not just my failing memory). Still, the story is engaging enough, and the climactic action scene is still quite entertaining.
