I LOVED Butcher & Blackbird so this was incredibly disappointing. This was one of my most anticipated reads this year too. 😫
Where was the plot? Why was almost the entire book about a horribly written fake marriage with a very VERY loose reason as to why they even got married? The Phantom seemed like he was going to be this HUGE part of L&L with the lead in from B&B and it was barely anything! Where was all the killing? There was barely any.
It was almost as if it was written by a different author. In fact, if this was the first book in the series, I wouldn't have continued on. It was a mess and if you listened to the audio, it was very confusing in the beginning. The timeline was all over the place.
Speaking of the audio, Eric Nolan's narration is worth listening to with that gritty, deep Irish accent. 🥵 HOWEVER, beware that the girl who reads for Lark has such a loud voice while Lochlan does not. I had to keep adjusting my volume for each chapter. 🥴
It was essentially a 400 page book of nothing. I wouldn't recommend to read it, honestly.
The spice was spicing around 70%. It's a VERY slow burn. And beware of the epilogue. If you don't like pegging (like myself) skip it. 🤮
