The Brief History of the Dead, by Kevin Brockmeier

2.0

The premise of this book was really quite cool but I found parts of the book to be disjointed and unnecessary. The chapters dealing with the preacher were heavy handed and not particularly necessary for the plot. The idea that the dead stay alive while there are still people who remember them was really a great concept for a book. The ending felt to abrupt and the protagonist's journey towards death was awkward. I really wanted to like this book a lot but was ultimately disappointed. I did walk away from the book with new thoughts about death.
