Wow! Beautiful Darkness, right? We are all so excited to get back to Gatlin and get back into Ethan and Lina's lives! As we very well should be because, Beautiful Creatures was an amazing book! But are you really ready? Things are not Happily Ever After in Gatlin. No, I think are very unhappy and they might get worse.
In the much anticipated sequel to Beautiful Creatures, Kami and Margaret do not disappoint. We don't miss a beat getting back into the action and mystery. Ethan is definitely going through some hard times in this book. I don't want to say too much or give anything away. I'll just say that Ethan is growing as a character and I'm so happy that he is a little relentless.
We were introduced to some new characters and we got to learn more about some of the characters from the first book. I love Link! He makes me giggle. I also loved the new character, Liv....I liked her so much that I was rooting for her at times...Lena has some issues in this book. Some major issues. Sometimes her issues were so well played out that I didn't understand why Ethan was still trying! But that's all I'm going to say! You just have to read it!
In Beautiful Creatures, the town that Ethan grew up in, Gatlin, played a huge role. You could almost say that it was a character too. In this book, Gatlin takes a backseat ride as we learn more about the Caster world and the Caster tunnels. I'm in love with the Caster world! Kami and Margaret have created a magical mystical fantasy world that is sometimes a little scary but most of the time it's just incredible!
Overall, Beautiful Darkness was a great sequel. Sometimes I felt the pacing was a little slow but that is a very very minor complaint because the story itself is wonderful and I cannot wait for the next book!
