so much about this one yucked me the hell out that i can't even pretend to give it an unbiased review. the worldbuilding is so weird and fetishy that all the political intrigue and palace drama feels like elaborate stage dressing around what is patently and obviously a porn setup. i really can't buy that it's attempting to discuss taboos or say anything new and revelatory about human conflict.
