The Princess Bride by William Goldman

3.0

This was a weird one, because I really enjoyed reading it, but also found it quite a chore to get through. The set ups were very enjoyable, but then the pay offs really underdelivered and fell flat. Even the iconic 'you killed my father, prepare to die' moment felt strangely lacklustre.

It's a testament to the film that even though I've not seen it since I was a child, at least 20 years ago now, I still envisioned everything that way, with André the Giant, Mandy Patinkin, Cary Elwes, etc..
