Ok, so I had a really hard time rating this book because I didn't hate it but at the same time that ending had me URGH!!!! I gave it 4 stars but for me, I think it's more along the lines of a 3.5 ish because it really had me in a twist!
For everyone who has read this series thus far, you know the love triangle that is Clara, Christian, and Tucker. This has been teased from book one and while everyone always has their favorites in the fandom, I was diehard Christian from the beginning. Christian is literally her destined soulmate, he is meant for her in every way and their bond makes them both more when they are together.
I honestly see where the author is coming from in that she really wants to drive the point of, "You can change your fate, you can buck what is expected of you, screw destiny and love who you want, etc." I really really really understand what she is trying to say, but I don't agree, and that's fine.
Tucker was sweet don't get me wrong, if he were able to offer Clara something to balance out the scales then I would have been thrilled for their relationship, but it seemed to be as if she was almost settling or compromising by choosing Tucker.
I often wondered if she didn't think she and Christian were preordained if things might have gone a bit differently? If Clara set aside her "screw the man, I choose my own path" logic and simply felt what Christian makes her feel if things would have gone in a different direction.
I absolutely feel like Christian got the short end of the stick and gets to watch Clara live happily ever after with Tucker while watching from afar.
I know there were tons of other stuff happening in this book from the overwhelming loss, secrets being revealed, pregnancy etc but I honestly feel like the ending cast a shadow over everything that happened and I felt the need to focus on that for my review.
In the end, I really loved this series, withstanding that crappy ending (again my opinion) and I think it's a solid read that has an engaging plotline, fabulous characters, and the ability to make you feel.
