Facing the Sun by Janice Lynn Mather

2.0

From the very beginning we get a myriad of characters’ POV. It is a bit off putting, making it harder to connect with/ invest in any of the characters. If we had one character per chapter for example that would be much better however having several character POV for EACH chapter was a bit much. Also the story is very very slow to start. We start off with an incident at the beach and that conversation takes up the majority of the first section of the book. Finally, I think if you skipped some chapters (I ended up doing this), you’d still get a gist of what’s happening in the story while not missing anything important. Therefore, 400 plus pages wasn’t at all necessary IMO. I really wanted to love this book and I’m sure some other readers will get something meaningful from it, but I just couldn’t get into it. Amazing cover though
