This doesn’t read like a romance novel. While I think it technically meets the requirements of a romance novel it reads like a family drama. All the danger and trauma in the story feels far more central to the story than any of the romantic elements. Not a great read for romance, pretty decent as a heal from trauma type situation.
My biggest complaint about the book is that the blurb only talks about Leo and doesn’t at all address the trauma of Hannah leaving a domestic abuse situation. Probably on me for not checking trigger warnings, but the abuse Hannah faces is graphically described and pretty brutal. It was hard to face that the author didn’t even want to address all of that.
I thought the concept was cute, but ultimately not for me.
