It is rare to find novels that are deepy introspective and philosophical without feeling forced or unnecessarily pompous. Luckily there are always exceptions! This book is quite short but it will give you some great, proverbial food for thought. If you've ever found yourself thinking that knowledge is a curse and a burden, I am confident this will resonate with you.
I must say this is old school sci-fi and it definitely shows -- some sentences, scenes and characters miss their mark once we start applying a modicum of modern sensitivity to them. Nevertheless the clichés of the past and some questionable word choices did not ruin the reading experience for me.
Be warned: it's very sad. Not in a 'sad, but everything's going to be okay' way. I'll be thinking about Charlie and Algernon for some time to come.
