The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

5.0

After reading the To All The Boys series I decided to finally start reading The Summer I Turned Pretty series. I wasn't expecting much from this as it the title made it seem like it was going to be focused on her physically appearance. This was also wrote in 2009 so I was expecting the language and storyline to be slightly dated.

However I found this book to be pretty timeless and a book that my children could read when they're teenagers and still enjoy. I loved the relationships between Conrad and Jeremiah and Steven and Belly, but also how Conrad and Jeremiah protected Belly in a way that she thought was too much, instead it was an act of love.

I can't wait to see how the next book turns out and I really hope that this will be turned into a movie as I think it would be just as good as the To All The Boys movie franchise.

This was read for the 'favourite genre' and 'backlist title' challenge from Round 13 of the Read-O-Rama.
