Did not finish book. Stopped at 27%.

This story is told in a very weird POV. It's third person but... present tense? I think? Ex: "Latrice wakes up at 6:30 on the dot. Her brain has long been wired to wake her up at that exact time during all of summer break. She lies in bed and stares at the ceiling, thinking about her to-do list for the day. She has a consultation at nine, meets with Rachel at noon, then has dinner with Nadia tonight." TELL ME THAT ISN'T JARRING

Ultimately these two separate quotes within a few chapters made me DNF: 
Nathan's mind inevitably wanders to Latrice's sweet juices... 
&
He didn't just shit where he eats, he had diarrhea.
