Sacred Sins by Nora Roberts

2.0

This is a very dated book, not only because of the complete absence of computers or cell phones, but because there are absolutely no people of color and the sexism is overt. On the more refreshing front, there is a sense of shock at the idea of serial murder, so passe these days, and Roberts argues vigorously through her main character that mentally ill criminals need treatment, not punishment. But this is far from the best of Roberts' books, which are never terribly intellectual, because the characters are particularly cardboard and the plot is mostly very predictable. I may have missed some nuance because to my irritation I found out at the END of this audio book it was abridged. I was also not crazy about the narrator, who had great trouble with male voices unless she added a drawl, and why would all these New Yorkers be drawling? Overall, not recommended.
