The Heroes by Joe Abercrombie

adventurous dark tense medium-paced

3.75

Filled with the typical smart, cruel prose only Jabercrombie can offer. I will say, the novel focuses entirely on the war in the North, and the parts I usually find myself bored reading for Jabercrombie includes both war and the North. An excellent novel as always, but not my personal cup of tea. However, his characters—as always—are a great triumph.

And Beck choosing peace and a life of solitude, where everyone in the novel doesn't, honestly made me stop reading for a minute from the sheer weight of that narrative's strength. In all of this world, probably the one character who deserves it.
