The Petrified Flesh by Cornelia Funke

3.0

2.75 Even though I liked the premise of the book and the world that Funke created I am not attached to Jacob, Fox, Will or Clara. It was simply okay. It didn't thrill me or make me want to never put it down...it was just alright. In this book, Jacob escapes into the world behind a mirror and has been since he was 12. Now 24, he accidentally let his brother, Will, come into the mirror world and he was attacked by a goyle. The mirror world is filled with the sinister twists to fairytales and a Goyle is an angry stone person and their claws can turn their enemies into goyle as well. So the whole book is about Jacob trying to save his brother from turning into a goyle. In the description, it says that there is a love story in the book pertaining to Fox and Jacob but it was terribly executed. Really all Funke did was say "fox loved jacob so much" or "Jacob couldn't stand to lose her(fox)".
