The Mask Falling by Samantha Shannon

5.0

HAS SPOILERS!

Okay, so like I most of the series things tend to feel relatively slow in the beginning then pick up/find their stride in the middle.

This one found its stride a bit earlier and I have to say, everything from the relationship with the Paris syndicate, multiple captures and escapes, the mild spice of Paige's first true physical/sexual encounter, the absolute FRUSTRATION and annoyance I felt when she JUST. WOULDNT. KILL
JAXON, and the overwhelming anxiety I felt when Paige thought that Arcturus had betrayed her... I just... Ugh.
I very rarely if ever get worked up over characters in books but I truly became invested over the series, and didn't even realize it until I read the Mask Falling.
Although Paige has grown through the series I can't help but feel frustrated at her continued lack of awareness. It makes me think of Jim Carrey's Grinch: "Nice kid, baaaaaaad judge of character."
But I will say, I cannot wait for the last installment in this series because I NEED to know what's next!
