Quinton and Oakley
PLEASE be aware that this review is meant for my own purposes only in order to help me recall this book and is in no way a reflection of what I think anyone else will like or want out of a book. It is simply a memory aid and a rough voice-to-text which is completely unedited/reviewed for errors. Read at your own discretion.
Sworn enemies since a physical confrontation their senior year of hs when they played on rival hockey teams, they are now seniors in college at Leighton and still hate each other. Golden boy and son of a hockey legend Oakley is gay. Quinton is the rebel son of a rich businessman who is cold and unsupportive. At a party, Quinton randomly tells Oakley he is better at a certain sex act even though he is “straight”. Challenge is accepted and then the next day the hockey team goes on to win their first victory of the season. The boys decide that they need to continue hooking up to guarantee the success of the team. There is an incident where Quintin fails a drug test and is briefly suspended and has to give up the captainship of the team. Meanwhile, Oakley and Quinton start falling for each other and hooking up even when they are not playing the next day. They start breaking all of their self-imposed rules. As they realize they are in love with each other, it comes out that Oakley had suspicions that a fellow teammate had set Quinton up to failed the drug test. When Quintin finds out, he cannot forgive Oakley. After taking time to get over his hurt, eventually, they end up together. They both go to the NHL.
I enjoyed this book a lot. The characters showed good development, there was a plot, and the spice was fantastic. Not a fan of the 3rd act breakup, but this one was at least for an original reason.
