Graphic: Gore and Stalking
Curtis picks up garbage with his friend and co-worker Tim, and one day while he's working a strange woman hands him a cardboard box. Soon he finds out the box carries a curse in the form of an evil entity that likes to torment its victims. Reading this felt a lot like watching a horror movie that relies on tension and jump scares. It is super creepy and fun. The descriptions are so vividly written that I could hear the entity's voice in my head whenever it spoke. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys movies such as It Follows, The Ring, and Drag Me To Hell. The only thing that would have made this better is if there had been illustrations the book. Cursed is Leigh Kenny's debut and I will definitely check out more of her future work.
