First off, let me save you some confusion by letting you know that "Da" does not equal dad but rather grandfather. Go figure. Anyways, this book has a very unique concept: after we die our memories can be "read" kind of like a book (more like seen through your viewpoint) and the cover of your life's story is something that looks like your body (you look like you did before you died, minus any potentially gruesome wounds) sort of like a bookcover. These history books/bodies of sorts (referred to as Histories") are stored in The Archive. However, unlike books, Histories are sleeping and they can wake up. This whole system brought up a lot of unanswered questions for me, but overall I enjoyed it.

I did read that this is a trilogy but the third book was not picked up by the publisher of the first two books in this series, and she since has started several other series that have been picked up by publishers (A Darker Shade of Magic for example). So, it's kind of unknown if/when the third book will come out. I didn't know this until after I had read this book, so I thought I would warn everyone else who, like me, might find an unfinished book series to go against their religion and would rather avoid it if possible (I'm still aggravated by Amy Bartol). But I'm still going to read the next book, even though it might be the last.
