Soft Lad by Nick Grimshaw

emotional funny lighthearted medium-paced

5.0

I would give it 5,000 stars if I could 🤩

I bloody adored listening to this, maybe because I’m a fellow manc, maybe because we were born a few weeks apart and I can relate to many of his childhood experiences (I kept thinking ‘I remember that!’ or ‘I did that’), maybe  it’s because he calls Manchester ‘town’ just like I always have, maybe it’s the number of F words used throughout, or maybe, just maybe it’s because he came across as a genuinely decent guy!

Yep, I think it’s deffo that last one 😃

This was just fantastic and I urge everyone to listen to it if you haven’t already, it’s bloody fab!

I knew very little of Grimmy before reading this other than how much I love him and Liv on @c4gogglebox so I didn’t know what to expect. What I found were so many laugh out loud moments, (bit embarrassing when on public transport or walking the dog) and so many real life observations, truths and hilarious one liners (usually courtesy of Pete!) 🤣

The book focuses heavily on family life and growing up ‘up north’ and its  obvious listening that Nick adores his family, I absolutely loved any story featuring Pete and Eileen 😍

Thinking of petitioning @audible to make Nick Grimshaw the narrator for all of their books as I loved his story telling.
