Nine Princes in Amber by Roger Zelazny

3.0

An admirable start to what I think is going to be a road to an epic battle. There's definitely some mind-bending things in Nine Princes in Amber and it took me a while to forget my real-word restrictions and just go with the flow. I look forward to the next book, but I have to say, I don't understand the hype and why this book has such a high rating. Are people just rating this series as a whole?

I had problems with the jumps between modern (or at least, 70s) slang and antiquated phrasing, said I. I also didn't likt when the fourth wall was broken and the protagonist was talking directly to us. It really pulled me out of the experience.
