Clara is learning to be independent and take care of herself. She's pulling away from her overbearing mother. She just got out of a bad relationship and wants to stand on her own two feet. But she finds Alexander when she least expects it. She also doesn't expect that he's one of the most prominent men in the country. Prince Alexander. My favorite thing about Clara is that she's willing to stand up for herself, but to also make sacrifices and take chances. She won't let X hide his relationship with her once she's fallen in love with him. But she's willing to give X what he needs.

Alexander's family is obviously based on the real Royal family. The Queen mother with a son whose wife is dead, and two grandsons. At times it bothered me, but most of the time it makes it more realistic.

I am so excited to see what's in store for X and Clara in In His Majesty's Service. I didn't realize there was a sequel until I finished the book. I'm glad that I get more of X and Clara because I love them so much!!
