Brilliant writing, but combined with weird pacing (that third act just won’t end), weird politics (nobody in 1997 said “safe space”), and weird content choices. I could’ve loved this book; instead, I mostly just appreciate how well written it was and will probably not devote much more time or brain space to it.
Graphic: Death, Grief, Gun violence, Mass/school shootings, Medical content, and Suicide
Moderate: Car accident, Death of parent, Domestic abuse, Sexism, and Racism
Minor: Abortion, Antisemitism, Vomit, Pregnancy, and Racial slurs
