So, I'm rereading this series and realized I never reviewed these when I first read them. Oops.
Not much to say for this one though. Interesting and entertaining. Truth be told I didn't particularly like Jamie. If I remember correctly I found it difficult to like most of the heroines in this series because most are dominant. And it's not that they're dominant/independent that bug me it's perhaps how SW portrays that dominant attitude in their individual personality that irks me. So no, at times Jamie just comes across as contrary and stubborn. Not great traits for any female let alone a dominant one. Did I like her? Sure at times. Frankly her thought process could be taxing and some of her insults and "one liners" were not even remotely funny to me whereas someone else might be laughing their ass off. Younger me would've def laughed but it's takes more to do it these days. Some were funny but I just felt the way Jamie's personality was written at times felt too try hard, ya know? Always gotta have a smartass remark. And you bet your ass if she's told to do something she intentionally did the opposite. Completely contrary and frustrating. Though with Jamie she was atleast open about how she wasn't gonna do what she was told to do
Dante was fun and I genuinely liked him. I also liked that Jamie and Dante had a past connection to build off of.
// rant incoming...
Truthfully the one thing I didn't like and this applies to the entire damn series is the need to call Dominic a "pervert" because he flirts and lays cheesy lines on every female he comes in contact with. Honest to God I wish someone would explain to me how that lands him in pervert territory. Sorry, no. He's just a flirt who obviously enjoys testing boundaries by putting cheesy pick up lines on other guys mates. Stupid? Sure. Perverted? Not even close. So on behalf of Dominic who I remember loving in his book later on, please stop. I know this occurs in the entire series but even years later I find it annoying and so stupid. Clearly SW meant it to be funny but it's not. The label of "Pervert" shouldn't be used lightly like that and not labeled on someone who isn't being one at all.
