I'm not a sports fan so I don't know anything about hockey or any other sport for that matter. So for that reason, I found it very difficult to get into this book because it focused so much on hockey. Phoebe was a great character and I loved her attitude towards playing hockey one day. That "you can't tell me I can't play" attitude.
I felt for Phoebe a lot, especially when she was really feeling lonely because who hasn't felt completely alone at times. The author did a good job making me feel something for his character and creating this sport filled story. True, I thought it focused a little too much on hockey and not enough on Phoebe and her life. Some people might like that but that's not me.
I recommend this book for people that know and understand sports, especially hockey.
