The Magical Unicorn Society: Official Handbook by Jonny Leighton, Selwyn E. Phipps, Harry and Zanna Goldhawk (Papio Press), Helen Dardik

5.0

My love for animals and my love for fictional fantasy has combined epically in this official handbook for the magical unicorn society.
The way it is written feels so real and embedded with the creation of these creatures, habitats, different species etc, but also keeps you hanging on with myths and legends they have been seen in. The narrator really has a way with words that makes you believe in the possibility, as the tales of the unicorn history and the society's history are woven for you.

The tales of people encountering each type of unicorn had me reminiscing over the my secret unicorn books I loved when I was little. So a healthy dose of nostalgia was given to me!

I love the subtle attempt at debunking fear as it says unexplained shadows passing a mirror could be a shadow night unicorn. This is definitely nicer than demons and ghouls that this is usually in conjunction with.

Whilst reading this I began to think of each group as something like a Hogwarts house so was excited to find a series of questions designed to find out which unicorn represents me (mine turned out to be water moon, I'm case you're interested)! I also checked out the accompanying website and it is also very enchanting.

I think this is perfect for anyone who loves unicorns. It is beautifully designed, with gorgeous, rich illustrations throughout and is presented in a very endearing way. I read another reviewer say a colouring book set in this work exists or is going to be, and that's something I wouldn't mind having!

A lovely addition to my collection.

Pick it up, give it a go and enjoy! >(^_^)<
