I was really impressed with how this book portrays alcoholism. It dives deep into the complexities of the person struggling with it and the impact on the people who love them. The author really captures the pain and necessity of setting boundaries to protect themselves, even if it means cutting ties with the alcoholic.
The attraction between the main characters is written so well. You can feel their conflicting emotions of wanting to be together but being scared of getting hurt again, especially after how things ended last time. Alana’s new role as a mom adds another layer to this, as she has to protect her daughter from potential pain. The way adoption is handled in the story is wonderful. It’s portrayed with so much love and cae it feels completely natural and ordinary.
When I started "The Fine Print," I never thought I’d end up crying by the third and final book of the series. It really touched my heart. The whole series is filled with hopeful and touching moments, along with some solid emotional growth. I love that even though the female characters inspire the male characters, the guys work on improving themselves for their own sake and to be better partners.
I have to say, Rowan's book seemed a bit superficial in comparison. While it was enjoyable, it didn't delve as deeply into the characters' emotional landscapes as this book about Callahan does. Callahan's story feels richer and more layered, making it a standout in the series.
I also really connected with the brief mentions of struggling with fertility and miscarriage. These moments touched me deeply because I can relate to that experience. Seeing Alana and Callahan end up pregnant twice brought me a lot of hope, even though I know it's fiction. I've grown so attached to Alana and Callahan that their story feels very close to my heart.
I’m going to miss this little family. They’ve become so special to me, and I wish there was a "10 years later" special to see where they all end up. This series has been a wonderful journey, and I’m really glad I read it.
