I liked this one significantly more than the first.
War is a complicated character and I enjoyed that he was described as being the most human due to being born from humans. I thought he was interesting and I actually liked that he liked Miriam right away. While I did feel that he was a “bad guy” overall, I felt that his motivations made more sense, given that War only exists because of humans. However, the whole zombies thing really took me out of it. It just felt like a diversion from the genre and plot.
This book had endearing characters, a more interesting and complex theme and a better plot overall. Some of the plot devices didn’t make sense or took me out of the story, but overall pretty good.

Graphic: Violence and War
Moderate: Body horror and Slavery
