Wage Slaves by Daria Bogdanska

adventurous dark emotional funny hopeful lighthearted medium-paced

4.0

The story of a young Polish woman, Daria (25) who goes to Sweden for school and work.  Without work, she can't get a social insurance number, and without a social insurance number, she can't get work, so she starts working under the table.  She becomes aware of the exploitation of non Swedish employees, and she takes her fight to the union to see what can be done about workers'rights.
The story is an easy read, interspersing elements of union organizing with the ebb and flow of Daria's love life.
