It was an okay book for what it was, but not at all what I expected from a Jessica Cruz, or even a DC book. I suppose that's on me for getting excited to read more Jessica Cruz stuff.
I know a character can contain multitudes, but I related to her mental health struggles, which were more present in the illustration than in the book, as though it were an afterthought to the author. I guess I don't necessarily mind that she wasn't a superhero in this-- a space cop would've been a hard sell, given the circumstances-- but it still felt as though it could have been about any Latinx character, perhaps even more so than Jessica.
I also know the last useful thing to give notes on is to whine that "this isn't as good as this one other interpretation I like better," but in this case, it felt that the use of an extent character was irrelevant at best. Really pretty book though
