Casey McQuistion is one of my favorite authors of all time, so I was highly anticipating this book when it was announced. That being said I do think this is my least favorite book of theirs.

At times the prose felt very info-dumpy and I could sense my mind wandering in those instances. The research put into this story to make it as detailed as possible is evident, but for me in doing so I wasn’t fully immersed in the story. The various European cities Kit and Theo visit definitely felt like the third main character in the book, however I think that also detracted from the romance between the two.

As much as I love a friends-to-lovers second chance romance, I was never fully invested in Theo and Kit getting back together. I missed some of the longing that comes with a second chance romance. For a lot of the story it seemed that they both needed closure on their relationship more than anything else. That being said the last third of the book was definitely my favorite because that’s when the stakes for their romance was heightened.
