Murder with a hint of pumpkin spice by Laura M. Drake

4.0

This book is a really sweet small town, cozy mystery with all of the autumnal vibes.  I often find that with books in general I can usually tell what’s going to happen whether that be who the love interest might be or who the murderer is et cetera but with this book it kept me guessing the whole way through. Every time I thought I had figured out who the murderer was I was proven wrong and it really didn’t click for me until when it clicked for our main character Harper.

One of the things that really made me giggle in the book was that Harper comments a few times about how everyone can raise just one eyebrow, as someone that can’t do it myself I have always wondered how so many people in books seem to be able to do it.  I also wanted to highlight one of my favourite quotes from the book
“Grace always seemed to know the right thing to say. But, more importantly, she wasn’t afraid to say it even when it wasn’t what I wanted to hear“. I think that’s a really important quality of a family member or a good friend and it’s something that should be represented more in books so I love that it was represented here.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to read the next one murder with a hint of peppermint which I believe is coming out in December. If you were a fan of the pumpkin spice café, then I’m pretty sure that you’ll like this book too.
