book about a gay boy that’s turned straight after an argument with his friends. i was pleasantly surprised by this one, and had expected to not enjoy it considering the premise, but i was too curious to not give it a read.

i’m glad that the protagonist, max, went through a lot of character development, bc he sucked at the beginning. i liked the character arc he went through, and despite it all i was glad for the uncomfortable time he spent in “straight world” bc it definitely made him and his world better.

i have an issue with a lot of these YA novels about white gay men being specifically about white gay men though, and ive seen it happen too often where the best friends are queer POC who struggle more than the protagonist does. im glad that the main character recognizes his privileged outlook but i can’t help be frustrated with it regardless
