Christina Lauren books can go a couple of different ways for me - either I love both the comedy and the romance (Autoboyography, The Unhoneymooners), I love the comedy but detest the romance (Josh & Hazel), or I just flat out hate all of it (Roomies). Basically, their books are a toss up, but when I found In a Holidaze as a 99 cent Kindle deal, I figured it could be a potentially cute read during the festive season.

And you know what? It was. I really, really enjoyed the backdrop of this story, and even though it suffered from too many characters syndrome, I think they did a fine job of at least fleshing out the main characters enough for me to get really invested in the romance. While the actual romance plot took a while to get going because of the groundhog day aspect the authors threw in, the cozy vibe was more than enough to sustain me as they set up the couple. The comedy, too, took a while to build, but we did get there and I laughed out loud on more than one occasion.

Would I have enjoyed this had I read it at any other time of year? Probably not. Because it is set from December 20th to 26th, In a Holidaze really is a book for the festive season, and I'm happy I tore through it in one day over Christmas. I highly suggest you do the same if you want to read it!
