This book is hard to describe... it follows Billie and Spike in many iterations of life, types of love, and environmental destruction, from historical Easter Island during its ecosystem collapse, to near- and far-future Earth and its ecosystem collapse and technological advancement, to an alien world fleeing from climate destruction. Each story was similar and yet stood on its own, and it was great and left me thinking although I would not say that I loved it. It reminded me of the way the Cloud Atlas story is told.
