Night Theater: A Novel by Vikram Paralkar

3.0

A strange meandering book set in a small clinic in a village somewhere in Maharashtra. The nameless characters are simply fleshed out but distinct, particularly the surgeon frustrated and raging at the bureaucracy that limits him. Half platitude, half fairytale, this book had the feel of a story told by children with torches under the blankets at night, making it up on the spot, surprising themselves with the twists until they fall asleep.
