Miles Morales: Spider-Man by Jason Reynolds

4.0

I shouldn't be surprised but Jason Reynolds has done it again. He's taken a book about a superhero and made it something new. I was hesitant to pick this up bc I thought it would just be another retelling of a comic story for kids that don't like comics, as super hero books often are. Man was I wrong! Jason tells a unique story about Miles that really is about him being a black teenager. Spider-Man is merely the framework. I truly unique and engaging feat!! Know going in this book takes place in the comic book world of Miles Morales, which is a little different than the Into The Spider-Verse world. So if you only know Miles from that movie (the BEST comic book movie ever), at least do some quick brushing up before. I don't know that it's totally necessary; Jason gives you enough information that you are almost certainly fine coming in with no knowledge. Background info is just helpful if you have questions about differences in the world of the book compared to the movie. Either way, another Jason Reynolds CLASSIC!
