El espejo enterrado by Carlos Fuentes

This books does a good job of painting a picture for me the world of Spain and Latinoamerica in a way that I didn’t really get to learn in school or avoided because it seemed depressing. It is a history book that focuses more on the concepts rather than the dates, making it much more enjoyable to read although there were definitely some parts that were slow for me. The epilogue gives a good explanation of latinoamerica’s trajectory through history and what it needs to do now to succeed and become what it should be.
